The Mushroom

A nine-foot LED mushroom you can sit beneath, a glowing canopy that shifts color all night.

The piece

It stands on an 8 × 8 ft lounge base, or a 6 × 8 with a turf cover, with room to sit beneath the cap. Color is fully programmable: slow rainbow drifts, a single held color, or your own palette. No rigging, runs off a standard outlet or our portable battery.

Stands About 9 ft tall, a centerpiece guests can see from across the venue.

Under the cap About 6½ ft of headroom under the rim. Room for guests to gather, sit, and take photos.

How it got built

The Mushroom wasn’t designed in an afternoon.

We built it on nights and weekends in our shop, then rebuilt parts of it more times than we’d like to admit.

It fell over once. Strands burned out, sections flickered, and every one of those problems got fixed properly rather than patched. That’s why it stands the way it does now, and why we’re the ones who set it up and look after it on the night.

How much space does the Mushroom need?

It stands on an 8 × 8 ft base with lounge pads, or a 6 × 8 ft base with a turf cover for a smaller footprint. Leave about 2 ft of clearance on each side (roughly 12 × 12 ft overall for the 8 × 8). We confirm exact dimensions against your venue during booking.

Can guests sit under it?

Yes. There's about 6½ ft of headroom under the cap's edge, so guests can gather, sit, and take photos beneath it.

Does it need rigging or special power?

No rigging. It's freestanding and runs off a standard 120V outlet. For off-grid sites, add our portable battery and we'll bring the power. We handle delivery, setup, and teardown. You don't touch a thing.

Can you match our event colors?

Yes. Color and animation are fully programmable: slow rainbow drifts, a single held color, or your own palette. We build the scenes around your event. Tell us your vibe →

Can it come to Oʻahu, Maui or Kauaʻi?

Yes, by arrangement. It lives on the Big Island, but it can travel. Inter-island freight and crew travel are added to the quote, and we plan the dates with you so there’s time to ship, set up and bring it home.

Can we add sound?

Yes. We supply festival-grade sound built around BASSBOSS subwoofers through our production partners, and booking it with the Mushroom is one package and one quote. The backyard party pairing is the Mushroom with our Backyard sound: two Turbosound iP300 column speakers over a BASSBOSS 15-inch subwoofer. For weddings and bigger private events there are larger systems with wireless mics and a DJ-ready mixer. See the sound options.

Is the Mushroom free on your date?
