How a build happens

    Send the ideaAny format

A sketch with rough dimensions, a photo of something close, or a file. Vector files go straight to toolpaths.

Collect it in Kona, have it delivered, or have our crew mount it on site. On another island? We crate it and ship it.

Picking a material

Material is mostly decided by where the piece will live. Sun, rain and salt air are hard on everything.

Materials

Hardwood
Engraves dark and crisp and holds fine V-carved detail. Outdoors it needs a UV-resistant exterior finish, and it will still weather over time.
Plywood
Stable and affordable for large panels and screens. Baltic birch for clean edges, exterior grade for outside. The layers show on the edge unless it’s painted or banded.
MDF
Dead flat, machines cleanly and takes paint well. Indoor only; it swells when it gets wet.
Acrylic
Cast acrylic engraves a frosty white, and laser-cut edges come out glossy. Clear, frosted or colored. The go-to for backlit signs.

What to send us

  • What it is and what it’s for. A photo of something similar helps a lot.
  • Size, even approximate. Finished dimensions if you know them.
  • Where it will live: indoors or out, full sun, rain, salt air. This decides the material and finish.
  • How many, and whether they’re all the same or personalized.
  • Artwork or wording: a vector logo if you have one, otherwise the best image you have, plus the exact text.
  • When you need it. If there’s a hard date, tell us first.

Missing half of this? Send what you have. We’ll ask about the rest before anything gets cut.

Good to know
What can you make?
Signs and lettering, address and business signage, wall panels, decorative screens, templates and jigs, inlays and display fixtures on the CNC. Engraved signage, medallions, awards and tags, plus cut wood and acrylic shapes, on the laser. Functional and decorative parts on the 3D printers. And LED lighting built into any of it. That’s where most jobs start, not where they stop. If you’ve got an idea, ask.
What files should I send?
For cutting and engraving, vector files (SVG, DXF, AI, EPS or PDF) with text converted to outlines. For printing, STL, 3MF or STEP. No file is fine: we’ll draw it from a sketch or a photo, and a low-res logo can be redrawn as clean vector.
How big can you cut?
Small and detailed to wall-sized, and larger signs and installations built in sections. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll work out how to make it.
Will it hold up outdoors?
Yes, with the right material and finish. Outdoor pieces get exterior-grade or UV-stable materials, sealed edges and stainless hardware for salt air. MDF stays indoors.
Do I have to be having an event?
No. Most of our shop work has nothing to do with events. Business signage, awards, gifts, replacement parts and personal commissions all come through the same shop. If you’re after a print specifically, start on the 3D printing page.
Can you build something for an event too?
Yes. Custom scenic, entrance pieces and branded installations built to break down, travel and set up fast. If you also need the lighting and sound run around it, that’s our lighting & production side.
Is there a job too small?
No. One sign or one medallion is a real order. Small jobs are quoted up front, so you see the number before anything runs.
How is custom work priced?
On material, machine time and finishing, from the approved drawing. Repeat pieces in a run cost less each. The price holds unless the design changes.
